Robot 'Amelia' who can 'sense emotions' to start work in council job joins human workers
A new robot is set to take on a post with a local UK council - and she's being hailed as the future of the humanoid workforce.
Amelia is a customer service and administration programmed bot who has been praised for her ability to communicate with humans in a natural language, and she's the first robot to be employed by local government - instead of using humans.
This will be Amelia's first public sector role , where she will be able to help residents locate information and complete applications as well as simplify some of the council’s internal processes.
She may also be added to the council website to help guide people quickly to the correct information.
“With the rise of powerful cognitive platforms such as Amelia, government organizations have an opportunity to completely reimagine how frontline public services are delivered.
Enfield Council say they hope Amelia will be able to help them deliver better services to residents, without increasing costs.”
