In the northern Indian city of Colonelganj, a simple disagreement between a 17-year-old male and a chicken escalated into a full-blown community fight. While walking through the central area of town, the boy was bitten by the chicken. The youth responded to the peck by kicking the fowl, which the bird’s owner witnessed. The owner and his father proceeded to beat up the 17-year-old and left him lying in the street. Upon returning to his part of town, the beaten youth informed his parents of what had transpired. They proceeded to gather a posse from the community and marched to the home of the chicken owner. A verbal spat broke out on the street as the father and son duo claimed that the 17-year-old had damaged their property and that they had a right to retaliate. In what is being billed as an effort to protect the endangered species, the government of Indonesia is allowing those with expendable income to purchase tigers to keep as pets. In order to own one of these majestic cats you must have one billion rupiah, or £67,000 just lying around, as well five square kilometers of land upon which to house the animal. Despite opposition from several environmental groups who feel this is nothing more than an attempt by the Indonesian government to make money, government officials have stated that all of the tigers will be monitored regularly to ensure they are being treated properly. If they catch any mistreatment, the owners will be severely punished in the forms of fines or jail time. A Vietnamese man dug up his wife’s body, molded it with clay into a female figure and put it in his bed so he could hug it every night for the past five years. The man, 55-year-old who lives in the central Quang Nam province, is seen below with his wife’s remains and his son. According to reports, the 55-year old began by  sleeping upon his wife’s grave after she died in 2003. He said that a year and a half later he decided to dig a tunnel next to his wife’s grave so he could sleep beside her away from the rain and wind. However, neighbors and local authorities found out about the practice and persuaded him to stop. Subsequently in November 2004 Van returned to the grave, dug up his wife’s corpse and brought it home, where it remains today.
